evaluating of research

The first thing i did was decide what genre i was going to do, thriller, then i researched what instruments are used in the thriller genre by using Google search. i then listened to other triller songs to give me an idea of that i could do in my song.

my most successful part of researching was finding examples of thriller music, this is because it did not require much keywords to find, all i had to type in was 'triller music genre' and it told me that i had to have music that gave tension and was dramatic.

my most unsuccessful part of researching was using keywords to find the information on instruments used in triller music. i couldn't find the page that showed the instruments so when i was on garageband i had to listen to the instruments to see which ones sounded like it would be in a thriller.

if i had to do the research all over again i would want to do it more efficient, i would want to know what instruments are used in thriller themes so i would have a better idea of what instruments to have in my thriller song.

evaluating of garageband

my task was to create a tune that lasted 30 seconds and was on the genre of my choice.

Garageband is a program that lets you put music parts into it so you can make a longer song that is made up of smaller ones and you can have them overlapping and make some quieter and some louder than the others.
I've used garageband once before, it was in year 9 when we first got the imacs and it was just to see what we could do on them.

Before we had to start we had a simple demonstration of how to use garageband, it wasn't a very good demonstration because she only showed us how to record the piano and change the piano to sound like over instruments.
I found garageband easy to use because it was just dragging and dropping the short bits of music into the main part. it was also easy because it had categories of the instruments.

the first thing i did when i got on garage band was listen to the different music clips to see which ones sounded like they would be in a thriller and add them into the main part, then i started to overlap clips so they would be playing at the same time, then i changed the volume of some of the clips. in the end i only had time to make a 15second music clip.

i think i was very succesful because i made it sound like a thriller and used the same instruments as other triller music and i worked well on garageband seeing as i only went on it once which was 4 years ago. Also i was on my own so i think i did well for doing all the work myself

if i had to improve on anything, it would be how long my clip was, i spent alot of time listening to the clips to see which ones would be good in my music clip and only manged to make my clip 15seconds long when it was suppost to be 30 seconds.
